We are proud of the support we offer to children with SEND at Heathfield. This involves a range of interventions to support children experiencing difficulties with maths, literacy,
processing, memory, social skills and emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Additional support is delivered by a dedicated team of experienced SEND Teachers and Teaching Assistants, and trained volunteers. We also involve outside agencies whenever
appropriate and welcome conversations with parents about their child's difficulties or the support they are receiving.
We have high expectations of our children with SEN and work in partnership with families to ensure they achieve their very best.
Additional Resource Provisions
There are two units within the junior school.
Children with a significant language difficulty may be allocated a place at Heathfield Junior Language Unit by the Local Authority
in which they live. These children attend the Language Unit on a part time basis for intense, specialist support with speaking, language and literacy. These children also attend a
mainstream school, which may be Heathfield Junior School.
The SEMH unit provides four places for children from across Richmond with social, emotional and mental health difficulties. Placements are full time and permanent.
Integration into mainstream classes is planned on an individual basis.
