ambitious for the future
We are proud of the support we offer to children with SEND at Heathfield. This involves a range of interventions to support children experiencing difficulties with maths, literacy, processing, memory, social skills and emotional or behavioural difficulties.
Additional support is delivered by a dedicated team of experienced SEND Teachers and Teaching Assistants, and trained volunteers. We also involve outside agencies whenever appropriate and welcome conversations with parents about their child's difficulties or the support they are receiving.
We have high expectations of our children with SEND and work in partnership with families to ensure they achieve their very best.
There are two SRPs within the school. Both are fully integrated into the whole school and all children attending one of the provisions are allocated a mainstream class, into which they integrate as much as possible. The vast majority of the children attending one of the provisions will have an EHCP in place although we are willing to consider assessment places for children who are in the process of an EHC needs assessment.
This is an 18 place provision open for children in Reception, KS1 and KS2. Children would typically have a diagnosis of ASC, or would be on the pathway to a diagnosis. Children within this provision may also have mild to moderate learning needs.
This is a 6 place provision for children in KS2, with SEMH as their primary area of need. Children within this provision may also have a diagnosis of ADHD, attachment disorder and may also have mild to moderate learning needs.
At Heathfield Schools Partnership we aim to actively promote the mental and physical wellbeing of the children and adults in our school community.
Our staff team are dedicated to promote, monitor and support the wellbeing of all. As a school we believe in working together with families to support children's emotional wellbeing and offer a range of interventions and resources to do so.
This year, we are taking part in a scheme run by Richmond Borough which involves the setting up of Mental Health Support Teams to provide preventative support, deliver evidence-based psychological early interventions in schools and create better links with wider services.
They offer a variety of support through individual interventions, group work and a whole-school approach.
The school has been allocated an EWP (Education Wellbeing Practitioner) whose role it will be to work with specific parents to support their children with their emotional wellbeing.
