ambitious for the future
We have a great love of music at Heathfield. Our weekly singing assemblies are joyful events and there are plenty of other opportunities for children to get involved with a broad range of musical activities.
Our Heathfield Schools' Partnership Choir is open to any child in Years 2-6 who loves to sing. We enjoy performing and regularly sing for the local community, most recently at Whitefarm Lodge Care Home and Homelink Day Respite Centre. The highlight of our year is taking part in the Richmond Primary Singing Festival with other local schools.

Singing lessons with Mr Speck are offered to those children who wish to take their singing further. There is a focus on technique and preparation for the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) exams.
Our popular Recorder Club concentrates on learning to read music as well as good technique.

In Year 4 the children get involved with the Wider Opportunities programme through Richmond Music Trust as part of the National Curriculum. The whole class are provided with an instrument, usually a guitar, and taught by two instrumental specialists. They can then choose whether to continue to learn in a smaller group of between 6-15 children. There is a small charge for this group tuition.
The Rocksteady Primary Programme gives children the opportunity to play in a band. They can choose to play electric guitar, keyboard, drums or vocals. All instruments are provided and no prior experience is required. Regular live performances are an inherent part of the programme. A monthly fee is charged.
