Personal Development

At Heathfield Junior School, Personal Development is embedded in all that we do to enable our children to become independent, responsible, healthy and confident members of society now and in the future.

Our personal development curriculum has been built with the aim to support the development of the 'whole child', by helping them to understand how they are developing personally and socially, as well as promoting their mental, physical and cultural development.

Our children are encouraged to develop their sense of self-worth by playing a positive role in contributing to school life and the wider community. Assemblies are used to reinforce and discuss personal development topics, from developing the children’s understanding of how they can best support their own mental and emotional health through the Great Dream project, to promoting a wider understanding of different cultures and festivals. We aim for children to be curious and inquisitive, benefiting from a wealth of high quality experiences that are integrated through our curriculum.

Currently, we are in the process of developing an enrichment passport, which is a list of some of the special opportunities that we are committed to providing for all children during the school year.
